Beaulieu Super 8 Film Cameras
A lot of filmmakers just hear the name and see Beaulieu as the top of the line for Super 8 cameras. They are dazzled by the name Beaulieu typically because for so many years Pro8mm / Super 8 Sound Company promoted and sold Beaulieu cameras and has made important improvements on the Beaulieu 4008 Pro.

Beaulieu cameras use a guillotine shutter and all the light that arrives through the lens goes straight to the film frame when the guillotine is in the open position. Good for Beaulieu cameras. When you stop down the lens to F11 • F16 • F22 on a Beaulieu camera the image in the viewfinder gets very dark. You can not see much at all. The Guillotine shutter flickers, that is how a Beaulieu camera is made to work.

As I see it a Beaulieu camera is useless with a video tap rig - too dark - flickers.

The Canon 1014XL-S has a beam splitter. The image in the viewfinder does not flicker. The image in the viewfinder stays big and bright all the time.

As I see it a Canon 1014XL-S camera works with a video tap rig. Bright image.
